Principal/Superintendent: Robert (Bobby) Howard

I am very excited to be the new leader of Huerfano School District and Walsenburg Jr and Sr High School. I have been in Education since 1998 and I have accumulated so much experience along the way. I am in the final stages (Dissertation) of my doctorate in Education which means that I will be researching more than usual. I am very big on research and in these newsletters I will present some of the research. Every idea that I have to help our students succeed is based deeply in research and other districts success.

I will introduce myself in a short video and I will have former staff and student's testimonial. In these newsletters, I like to highlight staff, inform you of coming events, explain ideas, show research, and overall communicate at much as possible. I am open and I like to be transparent with all.

Early in my career, I started as a Psychiatric Nurse (trained in the Navy). When I switched to education, I wanted to teach Psychology. I have a masters in Psychology. Because of this background, the mental health of the staff and students is my top priority. I constantly research how to help the most.

I will be serious when I need to be, but I like to have fun. I look forward to a fun and enjoyable school year.
