Our vision and mission at Walsenburg Jr. Sr. High School is to empower all students to be proud, positive, and polite citizens who strive to be lifelong learners, with a passion for career adventures, and are courageous and bold enough to be the voice of change.  The school counselors believe that utilizing research-based programming and integrating curriculum that develops students' skills will promote their academic growth, social and emotional success, and the knowledge to attain their post-secondary goals.

The mission of the Huerfano Re-1 School District Counseling Program is to provide comprehensive programming that encourages all students to value and develop their unique abilities while respecting the diversity of others. As school counselors, we seek to create an environment that nurtures and empowers personal growth, social responsibility, and academic excellence. We believe in cultivating a positive culture that is the collaborative effort of our school, home, and community.
